TO THE BIBLE
Colossians 3:1-2 CEV “You have been raised to life with Christ. Now set your heart on what is in heaven, where Christ rules at God’s right side. Think about what is up there, not about what is here on earth.”

LET’S TALK
When you’re fond of someone, you’ll always want to be in the presence of that person. You’d enjoy talking with him or her for long hours without minding the amount of time spent together. Thoughts of that person will continually fill your heart and mind, and you’ll always look for ways and opportunities to express your love to that person and show that you care.

Jesus declared in John 14:23: “…If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him” (AMPC). As a Christian, you should set your deepest affection on God and His written Word. He desires that you keep Him close to your heart. He wants you to make Him the personality of your deepest affections, by having a heart that is perfect towards Him (2 Chronicles 16:9).

This doesn’t necessarily mean you doing everything right and never making mistakes, but ensuring that your heart is always after God, and you long to do His will. David is a good example of one who set his affection on God. Even though he made mistakes, his heart was always after God. He delighted in doing God’s will.

Let your heart go after God and the things He cares about. Be prompt to do His will. Once your affection is set on Him, and He becomes the personality of your deepest affection, His grace, love and kindness will abundantly manifest in your life.
