FIGHT TO REMAIN HUMBLE
(Use The Word To Check Your Thoughts And Intentions)
Pastor Chris
TO THE BIBLE
James 4:6 “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.””
LET’S TALK
Gordon had a stern, tough look on his face that had formed over years of confidence built into his spirit from hearing God’s Word. Sometimes, he was unaware that his face usually made it difficult for others to befriend him, thinking he was proud. Unknown to these people, he was born again, full of the Holy Ghost, and actually was a sweet spirit. Sometimes, you can’t tell who people are really proud because pride can be seen by God. Only God’s Word can spot pride in the heart.
As you study, meditate or listen to God’s Word; it “x-rays” your heart to reveal what’s in there. If there’s pride or something that’s not right, the Word will show it, so you can make the necessary changes. The Bible says, “For whatever God says to us is full of living power: it is sharper than the sharpest dagger, cutting swift and deep into our innermost thoughts and desires with all their parts, exposing us for what we really are” (Hebrews 4:12 TLB).
God’s Word scans the thoughts and intents of the heart. In 1 Samuel 16:7, it says, “…Men judge by outward appearance, but I look at a man’s thoughts and intentions.” Don’t wait for someone to accuse you of being proud. Use the Word to check your thoughts and intentions. Fight to remain humble. Use the right words on people; gracious and loving words.
Copy Jesus in His love and humility towards others, even when He had all glory, majesty and greatness. The Bible says, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:5-8). Hallelujah!
