TRUE GREATNESS BY THE WORD (Listening To God’s Instructions Will Make You Great)

Genesis 12:2 AMPC “…I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].”

LET’S TALK
“Did you hear about Lawrence? He went overseas to further his education, and now he’s in a fix!”

“Oh wow, what do you mean by “a fix?”” Darren inquired from Carlos.

“Well, for one thing, the college admission letter he got in the mail was a scam, and now he’s been accused of illegally trying to enter a country under false pretences; I heard he’s to face deportation tomorrow.”

“That’s a shame; he should’ve consulted God to know it was a right move before embarking on the journey.”

In trying to achieve greatness, many act on human wisdom and intelligence without ever listening to what the Lord has to say. Had they listened to the Lord, they wouldn’t end up more confused than when they started.

God always expects that when we receive His Word, we should live accordingly. When we have words in Scripture that show us principles of life or give us definite instructions from God, we have to pay close attention; we have to take such words seriously and live by them, for His instructions make you great.

Take, for instance, the experience of Isaac in Genesis 26. People were migrating to Egypt at the time for greener pastures so it made sense (human wisdom) that Isaac sought to leave Gerar to seek relief in Egypt. However, the Lord instructed him to stay put (Genesis 26:2-3). Isaac followed the Lord’s instruction, and Genesis 26:12-13 shows how great he became.

Follow the leading of God’s Spirit for your life. There’s no other way to greatness and a successful life besides following God’s plan and instructions for your life. It makes no difference the pressure you’re under, go to the Spirit for answers; don’t make impulsive decisions that would most certainly worsen the situation. Consult and trust Him for guidance.
