YOUR GUIDEBOOK FOR LIFE
(Set Your Heart On God’s Word)
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome;
TO THE BIBLE
Deuteronomy 32:46-47 “…He said to them: “Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe—all the words of this law. For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.””
LET’S TALK
When Fredrick’s dad got him the PlayStation 5, he could hardly contain his joy and quickly called over his buddies to test it out. They tore the console out of the box, hurriedly connected it to the TV, and settled down to play. But something was wrong; the console wouldn’t come on! In their excitement, they had neglected to read the manual and had missed some critical steps in the set-up process. However, when they read the manual and followed the steps, the console came on and worked perfectly.
Just as Fredrick’s PS5 came with a manual to help him operate it properly, we also have a manual for our lives in God’s Word; it directs us and helps us chart our course for victorious living. However, there’s much more to the Word than being a guidebook; it’s our life. The children of Israel saw God’s Law as a set of instructions, but Moses saw it as life. That’s why he knew the ways of God, while they were only acquainted with His acts.
God’s Word is also His mirror; it unveils His personality, as well as His image and description of you. For example, when the Word says, “count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience” (James 1:2-3), what it’s telling you is beyond an instruction; it’s showing you the kind of person God has made you—one who counts it all joy in spite of trials and tribulations because he knows he’ll always triumph!
Think, talk, and live according to your image that you see in the Word! Stick only with the picture of you that the Word of God has presented to you. And as you keep looking into the mirror of God, you become what you see.

Pray
Dear Father, I thank you for the glory in your Word that is more than an instruction. As I meditate on the Word, I’m transfigured into the exact image of what I see from glory to glory in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
