EACH PRAYER IS DIFFERENT
(Understand That There Are Rules For Each Kind Of Prayer)
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome;
TO THE BIBLE
Ephesians 6:18 AMP C “Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).”
LET’S TALK
The Lord is always excited to hear you each time you speak and fellowship with Him in prayer; it’s His desire to always answer every one of those prayers. He wants you to take advantage of the privilege and opportunity of prayer, which, essentially, is spirit-to-spirit communication. Sadly, many see prayer as only an avenue to “cajole” God into doing something for them, as though He was unwilling. But that’s not the purpose of prayer. When we pray, we don’t try to convince God to do something we think He wasn’t inclined to do in the first place. Instead, in prayer, we take sides with Him in bringing His will to pass.
The Bible shows that there’re different kinds of prayer, with different rules governing each kind. Most Christians are acquainted with only the prayer of faith because this prayer is quick. It’s the kind of prayer you can pray on the go, but there’re a whole lot of issues in this world that won’t go away by the prayer of faith. Such situations or challenges require some passionate supplication for the desired change to take place. We read about this kind of prayer in James 5:16-18 (AMPC); it’s the heartfelt and continued kind.
You may say, “But prayer is prayer”; no, prayer isn’t just prayer. You can’t apply the rules for the prayer of faith for the prayer of intercession; it won’t work. It’s one of the reasons people don’t have answers to their prayers; they’re praying the wrong way about their situation. If, for example, any football player other than the team’s goalkeeper, within his own penalty area, deliberately handles the ball when in play, such a player will be penalised. The referee won’t overlook the infringement, because you can’t apply handball or basketball rules to football. So, study the Word to know, and apply the right rules for the different kinds of prayers and you’ll surely have results.

Pray
Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege and opportunity of prayer. I declare that your Word grows mightily and prevails around the world and that the wicked acts and schemes of Satan are frustrated in every place, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
