TO THE BIBLE
Psalm 118:8-9 “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.”

LET’S TALK
People generally get excited when they receive the “good things” of life and become sad when they lose them. But Apostle Paul made a profound statement in Philippians 4:11-12 NIV where he said: “…I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”

Paul had learnt to live beyond the circumstances of his life. He had learnt to trust the Lord for everything. God doesn’t want you to have confidence in your material possessions or social status. Life is beyond that! Jesus said, “…life does not consist in an abundance of possessions” (Luke 12:15 NIV). You might be blessed with material possessions and still not know God. Let your confidence always be in God. He cares for you!

The best thing in life isn’t the fleeting satisfaction you get from having cool stuff, but the confident assurance that comes from knowing God intimately. Realise He’s the One Who blesses you with all the good things of life. Remember, His Word says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17 NIV). So, keep Him as the object of your deepest affection and be confident in His love for you.

Dear Father, no one and nothing compares to you. There’s no other love that’s comparable to yours. I trust in you and have confidence because of you! Thank you, Lord, for your everlasting presence with me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
