ARE YOU VENGEFUL? (Forgive Others Quickly And Let Peace Reign In Your Heart)

? Pastor Chris

? TO THE BIBLE
2 Corinthians 2:10-11 AMPC “If you forgive anyone anything, I too forgive that one; and what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sakes in the presence [and with the approval] of Christ (the Messiah), to keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions.”

▶ LET’S TALK
“I’ll never forgive her because of what she did,” “I’ll never talk to him ever again,” “I’ll repay him in his own coin” etc. are some harsh statements you hear from today’s hurting people. Such vengeful statements aren’t allowed to emanate from the lips of any Christian. You can’t afford to keep offence in your heart (1 Corinthians 10:32, 2 Corinthians 6:3). In our opening verse of Scripture, the Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, highlights the importance of forgiving others, so that Satan doesn’t take advantage of the situation. It’s the way to allow the peace of Christ to rule in your heart.

You may have a reason to be offended or angry, but Ephesians 4:26 says, “Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry—but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don’t stay angry. Don’t go to bed angry” (MSG). Practise the Word. Don’t retain anger in your heart; give it up quickly. You may say, “But what so-and-so did against me caused me terrible pain”; it makes no difference. When you’re filled with the Spirit, your heart is ruled with peace and you live joyfully and in love, irrespective of the actions of others.

Read what the Word says in James 5:13 AMPC: “Is anyone among you afflicted (ill-treated, suffering evil)? He should pray…”; He didn’t say, “Let him fight or be vengeful” neither did He say “Let him tell the whole world about it.” He said if you’re hurting—if you were ill-treated or suffering hurt or evil—pray about it. Don’t stay troubled or become bitter. Let it go!

The Bible says, “…In everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7); let His peace rule in your heart today!

? Pray
Dear Father, thank you for pouring out your love on me lavishly. I share the same love with those in my world, loving them unconditionally. Thank you for giving me the capacity to forgive and love like you do, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
